UNION LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Cambridge Education Association Cambridge, MA
President – Initiated the CEA Educators of Color Committee which has engaged hundreds of educators on issues of social and racial justice in our schools and supported educators of color. Lead teh CrLS Listening project in 2018 where we listened to nearly 200 educators and drew conclusions using qualitative research techniques. Supported a revision of the CEA bylaws to include social justice in our mission. Supported the writing and implementation of the Nellie Mae Building Equity Bridges grant to uncover root causes of systemic inequities in our schools. Revitalized the Political Action Committee to advocate for our scholars and schools. Significant revisions to streamline our membership processes and listings. 2016-present.
New President's Committee – developed and implemented professional development for the MTA New Presidents Academy 2018-2021.
Evaluations Specialist – Supported Educators with the new evaluation system through developing an informational website, providing professional development, supporting individuals and collecting, analyzing and reporting implementation data. 2013-2016.
Vice President – Chair of grievance committees, worked on many special projects, including Traditional, Interest-based and impact bargaining, and evaluating TellMass survey data. 2009-2013.
Contract Committee – Trained in Interest Based Bargaining, bargained a new evaluation system. 2006-present.

NEA Racial and Social Justice Conference – participated in the National Social Justice Conference 2017, 2018, 2019.

Teacher Leader – Among 40 educators from across the nation in the first Teacher Leadership Initiative cohort. Online training and a capstone leadership project: Led the redesign of the structure of professional development in Cambridge (choice courses) 2013.

7/8th grade Math and Science Teacher - Taught Math and Science in a new middle grades program for an expanding elementary school. Designed and implemented the program including an advisory program and a graduation by portfolio process. September 1997 - June 2005.

7th grade Math and Science Teacher - Taught both Math and Science on an inclusion team. Piloted the science portion of an interdisciplinary Ecology unit. September 1996 - June 1997.
